Island Kebabs Made with Seitan

May 06, 2016 by Elizabeth Bohr

I love this meal!  This is a great dish to make if you are having friends! you can prep the kebabs and sauce, just throw them on the stove or grill, and serve. So easy and so delicious...plus who doesn't love eating food off a kebab stick!

  • 8 ounces seitan
  • 1/2 red onion, cut into chunks
  • 1 green pepper
  • pineapple cut into chunks
  • 8 ounces cherry tomatoes

Kebab Sauce

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbs ketchup
  • 2 tbs arrowroot or cornstarch

Preheat stove top or grill

To make sauce whisk the water, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, ketchup, and cornstarch together.  Heat it over medium heat until it comes to a boil.  Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook, whisking often, until it becomes thick.

Put seitan, onion, green pepper, and cherry tomatoes on skewers and brush with kebab sauce.  Place on grill or stovetop.  Rotate until each side has been cooked.

Serve with rice.
